As I had mentioned in my previous post, there’s no stopping a kajal lover from trying out new products. I have tried almost all the long staying kajals in the market. But the first one I laid my hands on was the super famous Maybelline Colossal Kajal. The one that I’d be reviewing today, is their 12-hour formula kajal, as they’ve discontinued the original one. Read on to know how I liked it.

The packaging of Maybelline Colossal Kajal is similar to most of the long staying kajals. It comes in a sunshine yellow cardboard packaging, with a plastic case that keeps the product. The name of the kajal is embossed on the yellow stick. Since the packaging is retractable, there won’t be any product wastage. And Maybelline Colossal Kajal is travel-friendly as well, as it shuts tightly with a click.
The texture of Maybelline Colossal Kajal is not as smooth as I like my kajal to be. That’s not exactly a con, because smooth kajals tend to melt and break with time. Despite being not so smooth, the kajal glides well on both water and lash line.
I’ve been using Maybelline Colossal Kajal for almost five years now. Not regularly, but this kajal always finds a place in my stash. It’s long staying, smudge-proof and even waterproof to an extent. It stays for 10 to 12 hours on the water with minimal fading. On the lash line, it stays for over 6 hours. To remove it completely, you’ll need a good quality makeup cleanser or remover.
But what I dislike the most about this is its pigmentation. It’s dark, but not jet-black. You need to swipe 3 to 4 times on the water line to get an intense look. On the lash line, two swipes are enough.
Some women have been complaining that it doesn’t even last two hours on their eyes. That could be because of oily lids or watery ways. So if you face something similar, dab some compact on the eyes and then apply the kajal.
Pros Of Maybelline Colossal Kajal:
- Dark black in color
- Smudge proof
- Stay for a long time
- Does not irritate the eyes
Cons Maybelline Colossal Kajal:
- It does not stay for 12 hours, as claimed by the brand
- It is not jet black as claimed.
- Quantity provided is less.
Live It Beautiful Rating: 3.5 on 5.
At this price, Maybelline Colossal Kajal is a value for money product. I only wish it were a bit more pigmented. Then it would have given some top rated kajals a run for their money.
